Hello,
I just played the 'Fall of Silvium' and posted my comments on the Wesnoth forum.
Playing it gave me ideas for the legion, and so here are my suggestions for a few units:
For the horse units, it would be nice to use other names than claimant or champion. 'Clibanarii' and 'Cataphractoi' could be more in character perhaps. Also, maybe add a further specialisation in the horse tree, such as a level 2 horse archer (parthian-like).
I find the graphic for the skirmisher un-Imperial like. It suits a feudal atmosphere better. All the other graphics are great.
Cheers, and thank you for the effort of making these eras and campaigns.

Thanks for showing interest in the Imperial Era; unfortunately, I (the primary developer of said era) am on Wesbreak for an indefinitely long period of time, so there's not really anyone to put your suggestions into place.
If anyone who wants to revive development of the era does come along (or you yourself are interested), though, they're welcome to do so, and I'd be happy to guide them through the process, and probably even give them SVN access; that takes just ten minutes of my time rather than hours of it (which I can't spare) if I were to try to do it myself. _________________ You have said, seek me in Dimbar. Assuming someone is found to carry on the development of the IE, here are some comments:

These names would make more sense, if the Laviniani were based on the armies of the later Roman Empire. As it stands, however, they are partly based on the army of the early Empire and partly on that of the Republic at the end of the Second Punic War. The cavalry, in particular, is based on that of the ancient Numidia, which began the Second Punic War as a Carthaginian ally but ended it as a Roman ally. The terms "claimant" and "champion" (particularly "claimant") were chosen to reflet the fact that Numidia's political situation at this time was somewhat rocky, with two rival claimants to the throne.
I'm not saying these changes couldn't be implemented, just that these issues would need to be discussed first.

Again, this is a good idea, but more in the spirit of the later Empire than of the early Empire and the Republic. I'm not saying it couldn't be done, and it might make the gameplay more interesting, just that certain issues would have to be discussed. _________________ Est sapor et in paucis. -- Tertullian |

I'd be willing to at least do the code, as of a year ago I had memorized the coding for animation and most other basic stuff that would be needed to make a new unit or tweak old ones. I'm also handy at sprites if you give me a style to copy.
EDIT: Maybe you were referring to the fact that the skirmisher had no sleeves which most of the other units have, so I added the sleeves with some holes in them since it is a unit that would be running through a battle/woods.
EDIT 2: Maybe it's better with short sleeves?
EDIT 3: Tried the horse archer but I'm having some problems with the bow, and arrows in quiver, maybe I should look at some mainline bows. _________________ I'm not gone, I just read but have nothing to say. What you might call a "forum lurker" |

The amount of edits I'm doing to the last post is getting ridiculous so I'm just going to post my update of the horse archer in this post. _________________ I'm not gone, I just read but have nothing to say. What you might call a "forum lurker" |
